Under the sofa? Behind the refrigerator? between the box spring and the mattress? In between "the letters of Virginia Woolf, Vol 1" and the I Ching? In the back left corner of the closet, with a polished gemstone and half and sandwich? In the toe of a patent leather pump?

I think it was somewhere in the kitchen, maybe between the fridge and what's next to it, or under the fridge, between the stove and what's next to it. Somewhere in the kitchen, or that room next door where the laundry is.

Did you reach into a pocket in a coat, jacket, pair of slacks you haven't touched in some time and find it there?

At the bottom of your favorite bag, sitting there innocently, as though it had never gone away.

N.

Wrapped in a sweater at the top of the closet.

What a wonderful way for you to start the new year! It's like saving the best Christmas present for last! So... was it in the bottom of the toy box?

On top of a cupboard at work?

btw, thought you might like this:

"Guernica: Who are you speaking to in your poems?

Billy Collins: I’m speaking to someone I’m trying to get to fall in love with me. I’m trying to speak intimately to one person. "

Hint #3: here's a closer clue, following Patti's long emotional drive to finding the little camera, a losing battle won:

"Red Head Wins Trek!"
(The answer's in this four-word anagram!)

Sorry--I think I just bored myself silly with this one.

Yay!

In the bathroom, in the cabinet under the sink, tucked in next to all the toilet paper.

(thanks, Pearl, for the link to that interesting interview!)

Found in the fireplace after a series of family portraits taken from a log's point of view.

I'm thinking in the car.

~K!

Okay John you smartie...I got my John working on that anagram...How many letters?

By chance, did you find it in the desk drawer?

in the desk drawer! :)

yippee! i was afraid tess threw it into the recycling bin. i am so glad you found your beloved camera. a truly happy new year gift! and who is the person who hid it from you?

I think it must have been in your car, so it was with you everywhere you went.
Glad you found it.

In a jacket pocket?

It was under a seat cuz it fell out of a bag, and it was dark under the seat, my thinking it was passenger seat, but maybe in back behind the driver.

Hey Patti, give us some more time...our two heads will continue working on this later this evening!
